First Cinema locations announced to receive Barco Light Steering Technology.

Barco is set to enhance the cinematic experience in select high-profile cinemas with its HDR Light Steering projectors. AMC Theatres, B&B Theatres, and Regal Cinemas in major U.S. cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Dallas will be among the first to showcase first-run titles mastered for HDR. This initiative is part of a commercial pilot program that aims to bring Barco’s innovative laser HDR light steering technology to moviegoers just in time for the 2024 holiday season.

The HDR by Barco pilot program is set to launch in theaters on September 1, 2024, and will run through the end of the year. This program aims to set the stage for a broader rollout of permanent HDR by Barco installations in 2025. In preparation, Barco is partnering with leading post-production houses to equip them with the necessary HDR technology and develop a portfolio of remastered HDR film titles.

For those attending CinemaCon, there’s an opportunity to experience HDR by Barco firsthand. Daily demonstrations are scheduled during trade show hours in Barco’s exhibition space at the convention this week. Moreover, Barco’s HDR post-production solutions will be showcased at the NAB Show in Las Vegas next week, providing another chance for industry professionals to see the technology in action.
